Ambassador Kitsune Yamane

Doji Courtier School

Kitsune Yamane (the name means "dormouse") is one of the Fox Clan's few courtiers, trained by the Doji School. Sometimes called "the White Fox," Yamane is unusually small for an adult samurai, and has snowy white hair like some of the Crane. Speculation abounds as to whether or not she dyes it. She is one of the many grandchildren of provincial daimyo Kitsune Teika, having been adopted by Teika's youngest son, Ujimitsu, and his wife, Sachi, as a baby.

Like many Kitsune, Yamane enjoys the company of animals, and currently has an entourage of three pets: Jujin the mouse lemur (an exotic creature found at Kyuden Gotei), Yukihime the white-furred squirrel, and an unnamed momonga (dwarf flying squirrel)—Yamane has said that she intends to name the momonga after her wedding. Nobody knows when or if this is likely to happen, as Yamane has already been involved in three unsuccessful rounds of marriage negotiations with Great Clan samurai.

Yamane is known as a skilled singer, and has earned a place in Kakita Yoshi's group, the Nightingales.

As an ambassador for the Fox Clan, Yamane is currently stationed at Shiro Kitsuki, helping to maintain the Fox-Dragon alliance.
