Background

Born into an unimportant yet studious family of the Seppun, his father a member of the Hidden Guard, his mother a researcher. The third of four children, Ryo showed a talent for learning and reading early on. Soon his magical aptitude showed as well, and from a young age it was a given that he would attend the same school as his father. Upon completing his gempukku, Ryo went to work in the Seppun Library, organizing the works there and doing research into all matters that he could.

Ryo has found himself more and more out in the field rather than at his home in Kyuden Seppun. The introverted scholar has had to branch out, seeing combat and scandal alike. None the less, the more his life has changed, the more stubbornly he has retained his academic, honor bound view of the world and people. Despite his time out, he has managed to work his way up to an official position as an Imperial Scribe. He has also become the official Diviner of the Empress' court.

Appearance

Ryo is somewhat tall for a Rokugani man at 5'10", and compared to most samurai he is a touch heavyset. In informal occasions he is known to keep his hair back in a tail, but more often he can be seen with a more traditional topknot. In dress he goes for more priestly clothing, elegant as befitting an Imperial, but lacking the ostentation of an Otomo. He prefers wearing a hat when he can, and carries a staff with him at almost all times.

Reputation

Despite his honorable, pious public image, Ryo has a strong fondness for gossip of all kinds, both in the telling and hearing. He's also known for his clear memory, both of visual information as well as read materials. Ryo has a slight reputation for flute playing, as well as for his unique selection of known spells.
