For a Void shugenja, Asako Otari lives in a
very interesting time. It seems every month some new event comes along that threatens to send the fate of the Empire spinning off into uncharted emptiness. Since he was present at the tragic death of the Oracle of the Void some years ago, at the time nothing more than newly minted Ishi, Otari has been witness to many of the great tumultuous events of the modern Empire. Even during the best of times the life of an Ishiken-do is strange and unpredictable, now the Void shugenja all over the Empire have had the proverbial tatami mat pulled out from under them. It is in this atmosphere of uncertainty that Asako Otari has set out to return the Empire to peace and prosperity, to bring honor and glory to his ancestors, family, and clan, and lastly to understand the mysteries of the Void so that future generations would not have to live through the same troubles.
