Ide Alara acts the perfect Unicorn shugenja - she has an innate curiosity about the world that she seldom bothers to hide and an open manner that belies the sincerity and care she takes in performing her duties. She is unusually devoted to her horse, Tekki, even for a Unicorn, and a careful observer will not that Tekki is of unusually fine quality for even a Unicorn riding horse, although clearly not an battle steed. She wears her long black hair loose, although she often ties it out of her face when traveling. She eagerly volunteers to travel or explore new places, so long as she can take Tekki with her.

Tekki is Ide Alara's horse. She is a heavily fleabitten grey with a concentration of "bloody" marks on her left shoulder and grey mane and tail.
More on "bloody" marks in horses to follow. Legends indicate that these marks are the signs of a horse with extreme loyalty, bravery, honor, and intelligence.
