Background

Born into the Ikoma family at a time of political turmoil, Kataki was sent to the Crane to study as a political gesture. He excelled, but was never truly accepted by his crane hosts. He conducted himself with honor and dignity, and won much public praise as a student but very few friends.

Words

Kataki has served on numerous occasions as the head of the Lion court presence, and guided the clan to both victory and defeat. Those who do not feel so charitable whisper that either he is a bushi playing at being a courtier and thus leads his clan to failure, or that he is a courtier playing at swordsmanship, which distracts him from his true mission.

Deeds

Ikoma Kataki has gained renown as a duelist, having won two tournaments, many duels of honor, two duels to the death, and an exhibition match against the master of the Kakita academy. Ikoma Kataki was recently elevated to the position of Personal Champion to his daimyo, Ikoma Yachi. He has recently begun traveling the breadth of the Empire, issuing and accepting challenges on behalf of his lord. Kataki is normally a calm man with the detached demeanor of a monk. Some wonder if he is headed for an early retirement to the brotherhood.
