Background

Family

Ayame was born into the Kitsuki family, to the aged courtier Kitsuki Hagio, and his wife from the Dragonfly Clan, Tonbo Yasumi. She is the youngest of three siblings, and she have two older brothers. Of all three children, Ayame was the one who showed the most promise to perhaps follow in her mother's footsteps as a shugenja, but whatever talent she may have with speaking to the kami still lies dormant.

Training

While all Kitsuki learn how to use a sword, Ayame showed an aptitude for learning more martial skills. She is skilled with tactical knowledge of warfare, kenjutsu and kyujutsu.

Career

Duty in the Ivory Kingdoms

Shortly after her gempukku, Ayame volunteered for the Imperial forces bound for the distant Ivory Kingdoms that were to subdue the dangers of the gaijin lands on behalf of the Glorious Empress. She was hardly a warrior or a mighty shugenja, but she felt that it was her duty as a true samurai to answer the call, and she felt certain her skills would come to use. Much to the surprise of the warriors with her, Ayame proved quite competent with both sword and bow. Together with her group, they were able to dispatch a garrison of gaijin soldiers to make way for the Imperial troops.

Court of Empress Tsudao

Ayame was a part of the Dragon contigent during the Imperial court when it would be decided which clan the young Empress would train with. Despite her heritage as a Tonbo, she felt no difficulty with socialising with members of the Lion Clan, and she vocally supported the idea of the Empress training in the Akodo school, like her father before her. As a part of a treaty with the Phoenix, Sensei Mirumoto Kissaki asked if she would like to be considered for the position of exchange diplomat to the Phoenix Clan. Of course, as a dutiful samurai, she volunteered for such a task.

During the court, Ayame spoke eloquently on the subject of Law before the Empress. While such a heavy subject could easily have bored the young Empress, the speech was recieved well.

[Int11b: Know the School] Ayame attended the court of the Empress as the court decided which clan's school would be honored with training the young Empress. She spoke well on the subject of law before her majesty (despite the boring nature of such a subject for a child).
