Players, Characters, age, and the complications of them

The child prodigy character can be an interesting character, but there are implications I do not think any of us considered when we started the adventure we share. We are not asking anyone to change characters they are currently playing as of Weekend in Rokugan 2018. We will however be banning characters under 18 from this point further and there are a few things that we as a community need to consider when playing and interacting with those characters.

First, any sexual situation is very much a delicate thing in mods in general. When you add in the idea of a child by modern law and sensibilities, it becomes more so. Legally, by some state laws, it may be considered child pornography when a minor character is involved in a sexual situation. That can be a very serious issue for us as a campaign, as well as the players involved. Second, when the character is very young, that can make the other players at your table uncomfortable. For the sake of courtesy, that needs to be toned back. Remember that a 13 year old trying to actively seduce another character will disturb other people, and don't do it. It will be considered a breach of courtesy and you will be asked to leave. If you have one of those young pcs, and they are married, keep aware of your comments at the table. Again, we aren't retconning away the marriages, but we do ask that you be polite. The Admin team will not permit any marriages going forward that would break modern laws.

Tangentially, we have several players who are underage, ranging as low as tweens, under adult supervision. They are great players, and absolutely welcome in the campaign, but it can make the players at the table very uncomfortable when they are involved in sexual situations. Keep that in mind when you are playing with them at your table. We do ask that the players who are under legal age not be involved in marriage or seduction plots with other players or npcs, for that reason.
